Mural Project (2022)

San Pedro local Frankie (@biganti_26) tackled with massive exterior wall on the outside of Channel Street Skatepark…He transformed an "ugly eye sore” of a wall and turned into a beautiful piece of art work that highlights the location of Channel Street Skatepark.

This piece has made a huge visual difference to the residents of Pedro, being a high visibility drive-by location. This is just the beginning of our ongoing “Beautification Initiative” …Here’s a mini-reel highlighting his piece. THANK YOU Frankie! Go follow his page and check out his other amazing work!! . . Music by kwon . . A quick shoutout also to the Northwest San Pedro Neighborhood Council for helping us get this beautification initiative going 🙌 #communitymatters

☠️ BACK FROM THE DEAD ☠️

Channel Street Skatepark is officially BACK FROM THE DEAD ☠️

“San Pedro's Channel Street roars back to life with heavy hits and killer riffs. Watch Russell, Pabich, Lilley, Borden and hella more bust big and get broke. Big thanks to Dickies, Vans and the SPSA crew. Get fired up and build your own!” - THRASHER MAGAZINE

Grand Reopening Ceremony

IT’S BEEN SEVEN YEARS SINCE THE PARK HAD TO CLOSE FOR FREEWAY REPAIRS but the city of Los Angeles has finally given the land to the San Pedro Skatepark Association once and for all. That means this landmark DIY is officially a full-fledged skatepark! Andy Harris and the crew have put in decades making Channel Street what it is today, so to celebrate the park’s new legal status, Andy, Ronnie, Robbie and more came to cut the ribbon and break in the newly-liberated bridge park. —Ben Karpinski

We Got The Keys Back!!!

Tuesday, October 12, 2021, Councilmember Joe Buscaino handed off the keys to The San Pedro Skatepark Association! What this means is we are now official tenants of Channel Street Skatepark. The lease between the city of LA and SPSA has been signed for 20 years with options for renewal, and our construction permits are a go!

The next steps in order to reopen, we need to fix, repair, and rebuild what has been demolished.

We are keeping the fences up and the barriers in the bowls for now. This will allow us to make repairs in a timely manner without additional delay.

What you can do to help! Stand by… subscribe to concretelawfilm.com and be the first to know about future updates and the progress of the film.

Thank you for all your support,

SPSA

Official Update: August 2021

A huge shoutout to everyone who has been showing up for the cleanups for the last (nearly) 7 years. It’s been a long run and we are getting close to a reopening!

We officially have construction insurance which allows us to get back in there are start repairs and rebuilding, but we have to sign the lease first. The city has finally offered us a lease agreement, but it’s a little problematic, so we are working on getting it to a point where we can sign this. Council District 15 has been very helpful in navigating us through all the red tape.

Enjoy these videos below of the shed demo, the clean-up last Saturday, and an update, by April Jones/Concrete Law Film

Thank you for all your patience and resilience. We got this.
